ATLANTA (Sept. 22, 2008) - Toyoko Inn, a Japanese hotel brand that focuses on no-frills rooms for businessmen and women, is considering building a 40-story location near Woodruff Park in downtown Atlanta.
The hotel tower would rise at Forsyth and Luckie streets and comprise 861 small rooms atop an enclosed parking deck, according to a zoning filing posted on a state of Georgia Web site that lists developments of regional impact. The development will be a LEED-certified structure that uses a gray-water system. Its proximity to the Five Points MARTA station will promote public transportation, according to the filing.
Plans call for the Toyoko Inn to be completed in 2010, according to the filing. Check out Atlanta Business Chronicle's story by J. Scott Trubey.
Kelly T. McBride of the architectural firm Phillips of Atlanta is listed as the developer. Phillips has designed hotels for La Quinta, Holiday Inn, Microtel and Sleep Inn, according to its Web site.
The owner is listed as Toyoko Inn - Atlanta LLC (Tokoyo Inn- USA).
It will be interesting to see whether a large hotel with lots of little rooms can compete with the convention hotels of downtown Atlanta.
Nice spot to build that hotel and 40-story wow! Its kinda high but probably has a great view of the city at night.

I think the location of the hotel is perfect. 40 stories is high but it has a perfect view of the city at night.

The location is great, it has the perfect view of the city at night plus it is in the place were most people go. I think choosing this location is perfect.

It would be a great plan if they continue with their downtown project. It has many advantages if the project's location is in the downtown area.
