NCR Adds Fuel to White Hot Atlanta Real Estate Market

ATLANTA (Jan. 13, 2015) - What a week it's been for Atlanta's commercial real estate market.

First, Mercedes-Benz USA confirmed plans to move its headquarters from Montvale, N.J., to suburban Sandy Springs, Georgia (with assistance from JLL Atlanta, a client of The Wilbert Group). And today. NCR Corp. confirmed specualtion that it would move its headquarters from Gwinnett County to Midtown Atlanta.

In June 2009, Urvaksh Karkaria of Atlanta Business Chronicle broke the news that NCR would relocate its headquarters from Dayton, Ohio, to metro Atlanta. And last year, Scott Trubey and Greg Bluestein bird-dogged a tip that NCR would open a major campus in Midtown, close to Georgia Tech. 

The AJC backed its story with great confidential information about the discussions in Gov. Nathan Deal's office that ultimately led to today's big announcement.

NCR also plans to maintain a significant presence at a second campus in the northern suburbs. The new campus will be located at Centergy North at Technology Square on Spring Street, and will provide NCR with a state-of-the-art presence close to Atlanta’s rich innovation centers and leading academic institutions. The new campus in midtown Atlanta will be ready late in 2017 or early in 2018. While a location for the campus in the northern suburbs is yet being finalized, it is expected to open during a similar time frame.

Atlanta PR Pro Makes Long's List of Top Online Commercial Real Estate People

ATLANTA (Oct. 14, 2014) - Duke Long's lists of commercial real estate influencers and thought leaders already are legendary. So, it thrills me to have made his 2014 list of Top 10 Most Influence Online Commercial Real Estate People.

Long's list has become the industry standard for measurement of those who effectively use social media and blogs to discuss, promote and debate commercial real estate and its critical place in the U.S. economy and beyond. This year's list is topped by Barbi Reuter, a social #CRE powerhouse who recently was promoted to the C-Suite of PICOR/Cushman & Wakefield in Tuscon, Arizona. This is the only (non-CREW-related) list in the male-dominated world of CRE topped by a female.

Others on the 2014 list include Coy Davidson (pictured on the right in above photo with Duke), perhaps the best-known CRE-blogger/social force; Michael Bull, who hosts America's Commercial Real Estate (Radio) Show; and ICSC social media guru Sarah Malcolm. And Michael Beckerman, who founded a real estate-focused PR firm, made the list as he works to change the way CRE news is deliver with The News Funnel.

A couple of people have asked how a PR guy (me) made the list of Most Influentiual Online Commercial Real Estate People. Pure and simple, it's my dedication to keeping up with CRE news, to breaking and making CRE news some at times and to promote the industry via social outlets.

Of course, as a PR guy with several major CRE clients, I'll work extra hard to help them make next year's list and displace me. I'm honored to follow in the footsteps of Mark Toro, who has made Duke's list several times himself.

CRE Social Media Superstar: The only reason I did it was to get more deals. Period

NEW YORK (Oct. 30, 2013) - The CRE//Tech Intersect show debuted off Broadway earlier this month.

It featured an interesting panel and displays by cool startups seeking to do business with commercial real estate firms. But the highlight of the evening was a monumental meeting between two CRE social media powerhouses.

Coy Davidson and Duke Long, who have established themselves as top influencers on CRE social media, traveled from Houston and Indianapolis, respectively, to attend the event. They meet up in line for beers.

I was lucky to capture the moment on my new Nokia Lumia 1020 and then head to a bar to drink with Coy. No word where Duke headed after the event.

P.S. - Duke, you need to give Ralph Bivins some love on your Top This and That Lists. Ralph just met Coy for drinks. Ralph probably should send you some Southern Comfort or Pappy Van Winkle.
