ATLANTA (March 21, 2014) - Got the chance to mix incredible views of Buckhead real estate and rare music memorabilia - and some scoop - at Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed's findraiser for U.S. Senate candidate Michelle Nunn.
Mayor Reed persuaded one of Atlanta's top concert promoters to host the event in his penthouse on Piedmont Road, overlooking some of the city's best commercial real estate. Talk about Skyline Views - the photo at left shows one view from the place.
During the event, I asked the promoter if he still did any work with Tom Petty an d the Heartbreakers. He said he had spoken with Petty's people that very day. Better yet, looksl like Petty and his band will play Atlanta in September - probably at Philips Arena, the promoter said. He added that he's excited to have landed the Bruce Springteen spring show at his Aaron's Amphitheatre. The April 26 show will mark the first time Springsteen has played there.
But what about Music Midtown? The host with all the music connections said he's landed "two major, major acts" to play this year. They'll be way bigger than last year's headliners Red Hot Chilly Peppers, Journey and Imagine Dragons.
There's the scoop from high above Buckhead.
