ATLANTA (June 11, 2013) - Senior housing was a hot topic at last week's NAREE Journalism conference, and today a local developer filed plans for a monster project for retirees.
Isakson Living Communities of Atlanta wants to build a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with 987 units in Cobb County, according to a just-posted DRI filing. "A CCRC is a residential community offering independent homes enhanced by onsite amenities such as dining, activities, entertainment, fitness and wellness," the filing states. "In addition to these amenities, a CCRC also provides health services including assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing which enable Members of the community to age in place."
The project, East Cobb Retirement Community would comprise 837 independent living villas and 150 heathcare beds at 3540 Roswell Road, according to the filing.
If all goes as planned, East Cobb Retirement Community would be completed in 2017.
